AI text detectors analyze statistical patterns in text to estimate whether it was written by a human or generated by an AI model. Most modern detectors use machine learning models trained on examples of both human-written and AI-generated text.
However, these patterns are not foolproof. As AI models improve, the differences become harder to spotβmaking detection increasingly unreliable.
Simple paraphrasing, translation, or minor editing can fool detectors completely.
Human-written text may be flagged as AI, and AI text may be missed entirely.
Attackers can intentionally craft text to evade detection systems.
May be biased against certain writing styles, topics, or non-native speakers.
Detectors often cannot explain why a text was flagged as AI-generated.
New AI models and techniques quickly outpace detection capabilities.
